Simpsons Classics #13 - Bongo

I've somehow managed to miss this magazine-sized Simpsons comic even though it's been around for a few years. It's a full-color, quarterly publication reprinting earlier Simpsons comics. There doesn't seem to be any corner of comics publishing that Bongo hasn't been able to appropriate for their own purposes.

As it says, there are four stories in this issue:"Send in the Clowns" by Mary Trainor, Stephanie Gladden, and Tim Harkins, about how some political campaign descend on Springfield and how it sends the town into a panic.

Next is "Li'l Homey" in "Homey Alone", by Chris Simmons, Shaun Cashman, and Tim Bavington. There's no effort Homer won't go to--even as Li'l Homey--in an attempt to get some food!

Third is "Marge Attacks!" by Jamie Angell, Phil Ortiz, and Bavington, about how Marge, in her attempts to clean up television, ends up with her own show!

Last is Itchy and Scratchy in "Game Caused Because of Pain", which has a grisly ending, of course. You'd think they'd read a little more gently than seeing them on TV since they don't come with the "squish" sound effects, but I find you can hear them in your head as you read anyway.

I'm simply amazed that there are any Simpsons stories left to tell, yet the comics, like the show, just keep on going. Bongo Comics don't seem to get a lot of press attention, yet they're one of the most successful lines of comics that don't feature superheroes, something worth noting, isn't it?
